First of all, Happy Mother's Day!
Sadly, I will only be video-chatting with my children today. I will get to visit with my own mom though.
As for the SAL, I have added more black stitches to "Three Boats". Here is where I was on my last update.

I thoroughly enjoyed adding over 150 black stitches the other day while listening to the soundtrack of "A Chorus Line". Oh how I adore that soundtrack. When I was in high school, way back when, we took a school trip to see the show on Broadway. One of the perks of growing up on Long Island is the relative ease of piling students on school buses for a trip to the city to see a matinee show. Oh my, how I loved that show. Now I was somewhat naive so I am sure that at the time a lot of the references went over my head, but there are a few songs that left no doubt about the "naughtiness" of the show. I am sure that if my mother knew the titles of some of the songs, even now, she would be scandalized. Still, I love that show and I happily stitched all those black stitches while I sang along on Wednesday.
This is what "Three Boats" looks like after that sing-along.
Trust me, there is a lot of progress.
I had some more time to stitch on Friday and added yet another 100 black stitches and this is where I am as of today.
There is still more black to stitch, but I will be stitching some colors other than black very soon.
This Stitch-along is hosted by Avis of Sewing Beside the Sea. She has gathered several bloggers to share what they are working on every 3 weeks. Please pay a visit to the wonderful stitchers listed below:

ReplyDeleteWow you have done well on your stitching hard to stitch on black . Have a fun week .
Firstly, how fabulous to as a high school student to hop on a bus and go see a show on Broadway!!! I am soooo jealous. =) Secondly, how wonderful you were able to visit with your mum on Mother's Day; that is very special, especially in these troubled times. Your Three Boats is progressing wonderfully. I can see you were in a groove and enjoying the sing-along.
ReplyDeletenice you can see your mum today have a good visit with her
ReplyDeleteHi,Cathie! I am happy that your mum is better.Good job! How many small black points...

DeleteHappy Mother's Day! That is a lot of stitching! Happy stitching this week.
ReplyDeleteIf you keep finding musicals to sing along with, you will finish this in record time! Well done getting through a more uninspiring section of this beauty. Happy Mother's Day.
ReplyDeleteYes, definitely lots of stitching done again :-)
ReplyDeleteA little more each day.

Thank you!
DeleteNot sure I could have kept up with all that black - well done! I'm looking forward to seeing what the colors bring into focus. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou piece is progressing steadily. I have to say this would have played havoc with my eyes - you are very patient!
ReplyDeleteI am doing a whole lot of counting to make sure the stitches are correct.
Deletehad to laugh..i love the chorus line soundtrack as well...when my daughter was 12 we saw it at a summer theatre and i asked the ticket taker if he thought it was ok for her...he said she won't hear anything in the show that she hasn't heard in junior high...lol...
ReplyDeleteOh I love that response!
DeleteI love a good singalong musical! That sounds like a good soundtrack for some cross stitching!
ReplyDeleteglad you had a virtual gathering with your kids! I hope you get to see them in real life soon :) I took a break from the cross stitching over the weekend but I'm going to start back up again today.
ReplyDeleteHi Cathie, I too saw A Chorus Line on Broadway and saw Cats at the same time. Yes, there was one song in particular that was very naughty! But we loved the show.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile you are doing great with stitching those very dark threads, something I hate doing.
Oh, you've done so well with all that black. I need a new pair of glasses so I stay away from any black stitching right now….
ReplyDeleteCathie: 150 stitch's is a lot. Happy Mothers Day
ReplyDeleteStay Healthy
Catherine
So happy to read that your Mom is on the mend and you were able to visit with her on Mother's Day! And well done for stitching all that black -- I think my eyes would just cross and I'd have to set it down.
ReplyDeleteGreat progress!
ReplyDeleteSorry, since I took a break, this group has grown so much so its taken a long time reading a few of your blogs each day so I apologise for my lateness. I can see quite good progress by watching the difference in the white flash at the bottom of our work. I look forward to seeing more now I am back with you all.
