A Little Progress

After a long week of work, I devoted an hour Saturday morning to working on Baker Beach. I finished the black for page 4 and started filling in one of the browns. 

There are a whole lot of colors still to be filled in on this page. I may break it up and work some more on the sky on the next page. You can see that at the top right corner. I am looking forward to the day when I can say that I am halfway through with this entire chart.

I also made a good deal of progress on Spring Angel on and off this week. Her dress is done except for the tiny spot in the center. Now on to her hands, face and hair.  

I am planning on watching the live version of Grease tonight on TV. Hopefully I will be able to do a whole lot of stitching during it. I really want her to be finished before Spring is here. Wish me luck.

Slow Saturday and Sunday Stitching

Yesterday's snow allowed for some slow stitching on both days. I added some stitches to the dress on Spring Angel. I am slowly filling it in. 

I also managed to get a few stitches completed on Baker Beach. Here is my last update on November 8th last year.

 I knew that if I didn't get back to it soon, I would start forgetting about it. I have filled in some of the black stitching.

 I really hope to go back to working on it somewhat steadily. Do you see that little item in the bottom right corner. Mom gave me some money for Christmas to buy myself some craft items. I got myself a great little needle nanny from Keepsake Quilting. 

We had a whole lot of snow yesterday. Hubby and I went out 2 times during the day to snow-blow and shovel just to try to keep ahead of the build-up.

It is just too much to wait until the snow stops and then try to clean it all up. This pic was from our first foray outside. At least the plows have been through several times. 

This was our birdbath early yesterday morning. We now have more than 24 inches. This is the view this morning. That same birdbath is off to the left.

Angel Stitching

I have had very little time to work on my crafts. I am really trying to finish knitting mom's vest. I hope to be able to share that with all of you real soon. 

I did a little stitching on Spring Angel this week. 

I have managed to stitch the darker outline stitches. Last night while football was on the TV, I also stitched the pink necklace, belt and dress border. I will go back to the light green and fill in her dress.

A lot of math, a little stitching.

My Precalculus university class starts in just over two weeks and I only have 2 complete lectures written. I don't just write bullet points that I would like to cover, I write down the topics, the examples, the solutions and all of the questions that I want to ask. I also compile problems that the students can complete in each lecture if there is time and a separate homework assignment from their textbook. Since I collect and grade each HW assignment, I have to choose those problems carefully. I don't want to swamp my students (or myself) with work, but I want to make sure to assign problems that cover everything that I deem relevant. I am quite anal about this so it takes me a very long time. Also, I am not sure exactly how much work I will be able to cover in a 2 hour class. This is a new time-frame for me. 

I have started stitching Spring Angel. I am awash in solid green right now and not loving the stitching. I am looking forward to starting on some pretty pink. This is as far as I am right now.

It is supposed to be pouring rain all day today, so I will hopefully make some progress on her and maybe on Baker Beach (I haven't touched it since the beginning of December). I thought I would share a gift that I gave to Hubby this year. 

It is a bird seed covered birdhouse from Fresh Finds. That little red bird on the front is artificial and has since been destroyed by the squirrels and other birds. The bird in the tree is real. He stayed there and let is mate eat her fill before he had any seeds. 
This squirrel took a real long time to figure out how he could get some seeds.

What a contortionist. 
The house is almost devoid of seeds now. I am not sure if it is in a place where any birds might use it as a home in the Spring. Hubby may have to move it somewhere more appropriate.

Winter Angel

I rediscovered my crafting mojo in the past few weeks. I finally finished an angel that I designed and stitched quite a while ago. To celebrate this finish I am sharing the chart with all of you. 
Here is Winter Angel. 

She is the first of four seasonal angels. I have designed Spring Angel and am in the process stitching it. I will release that chart when I am finished. My Summer and Autumn Angels are in the design phase right now. 

 I completed Winter Angel as a standing placard.I saw the instructions for this kind of finish in Cross-Stitch and Needlework magazine. I knew that I had finally found the appropriate finish for my angels. 

I will post step by step instructions with pictures soon.

Here is the chart if you want to make your own. Please send me a picture of your Winter Angel when you complete it.

Winter Angel is stitched  over two strands with DMC floss on Charles Craft Carolina Linen, 28 count in Sand. The finished size is approximately 5.25" by 6.5".
