Books and Crafts

I finished reading "The Address" by Fiona Davis. It is an intriguing book set at the Dakota building in NYC in both the 1880s and the 1980s. I found it somewhat interesting, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed other books by this author. Some of the events were just disturbing. I think I need more feel-good books right now.

I am currently finishing "The Magnificent Lives of Marjorie Post" by Allison Pataki. I was finally able to renew my loan so that I can finish it. Thank goodness for my Kindle which saved the page that I had read up to before my loan ended. I had to go back to the beginning of the chapter to get the context, but it was easy to remember what had come before and continue with the story.

I have added several stitches to October Morning. You can see that I am now adding a variety of rusts and oranges up the right side of this piece.

I have slowly added a few more rows to my crocheted ankle socks.

I am not sure why I am hesitating on working on these although I did figure out that I need to work on them during the daylight as the yarn is too dark for me to see in artificial light.

There is not much more new this midweek.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. The Autumn stitch is looking wonderful.
I know what you mean about the light it's so hard to see using dark wool at night. Enjoy your day.

  2. I had a charcoal poncho that I had to work on during the day, darn those aging eyes. I also have lots of trouble with cross stitch on linen especially when it is white on off white...I miss my 20 year old eyesight.

  4. crochet ankle socks - I would like to hear more about these - what is the pattern and where is it available - I have had no luck teaching myself how to knit socks - maybe I would have better luck with crochet?

  5. Any stitch moves a project forward is the way I look at it. The Floral Motif sampler I did was good in that it had tiny flowers as well as large basket ones, so finishing even a small flower moved it all ahead too.
