Why do the three weeks between Stitch Along updates seem to pass by so very quickly? I just don’t feel like I’m making any progress lately. I know that I’m spending time stitching, but there doesn’t seem to be much to show for it. Here is where Three Boats was at the beginning of March.
To be fair to myself, there was a weeklong trip to California at the beginning of March. I wasn’t able to read or comment on the posts last time as I was watching my toddler grandson by myself with limited time to use my tablet. My daughter and her family visited this past week so most needlework was stored out of reach of my toddler granddaughter. Also there has been a whole lot of confetti stitching. I have lined up the next few flosses to be used.
For a some of them there is exactly one stitch needed in a color. Arghhhh…. Other colors have one stitch here and then another 2 stitches an inch away followed by another single a half inch away then 2 stitches on the far side of the page. I feel like I’m spending a whole lot of time starting, stopping and threading the needle. All that being said, here is where I am now.
I have finally finished the interior of the top boat and will start working on its side. Since most of the stitching that is to come below is working on the other two boats, I think I am going to be in confetti purgatory for several more weeks.
This Stitch Along is hosted every three weeks by Avis at Sewing Beside the Sea who kindly sends us the needed posting reminders.
Grab yourself a cup of coffee or tea and take some time to visit the other bloggers below who are part of this stitch-along. There is a wide variety of stitching projects. These talented stitchers are from all over the world, so please allow for the time differences and check back for each post.

I see progress each time you show us three boats. There is so much detail, no wonder it takes so long to stitch! Keep stitching! Gail at the cozy quilter
ReplyDeleteI’m so glad you were able to spend time with your grandson as they grow so quickly. Mine range from 9 – 15 years old and just yesterday I was wondering where the time has gone. They grow up so quickly. Yes, those one minimal stitches are so frustrating, but they add so much to the end project. Kudos for sticking with it! 😊
ReplyDeleteI would lazily replace any stitch that is a single colour with it's neighbour if I'm going to be honest. I don't know why some patterns couldn't have been "cleaned" up a bit to reduce the number of unique colours. Best of luck with continuing this however, you are making good progress
ReplyDeleteI just can't bring myself to replace stitches. I have made one of these Artecy pictures before and the result truly looks like a painting. This one is somewhat more frustrating though it seems.
DeleteLooking great, Cathie! Have you ever tried pre threading multiple needles with the different colors to jump into the next as needed? I use to have a magnet thread organizer for different colors when I attempted full coverage.
ReplyDeleteI have one of those needle organizers myself, but there are so many, many colors that are so close to the same shade and so few stitches of each that I did not find it helpful. I also don't like to have a lot of needles out at once for fear of losing one.
DeleteOh yes, that makes sense. Mine had a million green shades, maybe that's why I didn't use it much either.
DeleteCheering you on! I’ve never tried it myself but have heard of others using multiple needles to help them through confetti purgatory.
ReplyDeletespending time with family is more important than crafting ^^ We can still see progress.
ReplyDeleteFamily is always first in my house.
DeleteI get absolutely NOTHING done when the grands are around! And yet I used to knit when I had little ones. I guess I'm getting old??
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised you found time to stitch at all so well done :-) Do you make a copy of the chart and mark off as you go so you can see where you're up to?
ReplyDeleteMarking where I am would probably be the smart thing to do, but I am not doing that on this chart. It is well marked and I have gridded the fabric.
DeleteHi Cathie: I bet you had fun with your grandson, I would love to have grandchildren. I am not a fan of confetti stitches, I am not sure why a designer has to torture us with them, giggles.
ReplyDeleteCatherine
Confetti stitching is such a pain but it makes the most accurate end result. I can really see the boat forming now!
ReplyDeleteI agree. This will end up looking like a painting so the confetti is worth the work.
