Lately, Santa is giving me fits. Here is how Santa looked at the last update.
I was adding the dark green of the gift and realized that the bottom half of what I had already stitched was off by one stitch. Yes, this is a really BIG problem. Here is how Santa looked recently with the incorrect stitching.
I spent a couple of days unstitching and then restitching. I dedided to fill in near the top of the gift before I started the restitching. It appears that my counting has been off lately....the symbols on the chart are not really well contrasted which is part of the problem. Here is where I am after I fixed the problems.
As usual, I need to thank Avis at Sewing Beside the Sea for hosting this Stitch Along every three weeks.

Thanks for stopping by!
I love to see your Santa .
ReplyDeleteOh you only have to be one stitch off and it throws you right out, best to unpick and start that part again .
Even if you don't want to.
I throw mine into a box and pick something else up.
Then unpick the next day , when I am calm ha.
I know the difference that just one wrong stitch makes. Your Santa is beautiful. Looking forward for seeing your other projects. Have a great Slow Sunday Stitching.
ReplyDeleteOh Cathie.. I love your fixed Santa! I used to do intricate cross stitch and know the feeling of tumbling down when you find not one problem but more!!! Your secret projects are exciting.... hoping your mom is doing well!

That is frustrating to be off in your stitches, and never fun to have to unstitch! The green looks beautiful now, though. Enjoy your projects!
ReplyDeleteGoodness that is annoying, and so time consuming. Glad you are now back on track!
ReplyDeleteYour stitching is lovely, but how frustrating to find you are off one stitch!
ReplyDeleteOh, the bother one little stitch that is out, causes! So frustrating and annoying, especially when you have to pull out lots of tiny cross stitches. It wouldn't be Sunday if I didn't see your cheery Santa, Cathie. I am going to miss him when you stitch the last stitch and finish him.
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling. My fox's ear was stitched and unpicked 3 times before I got it right. I use a seam ripper if I need to unpick a large chunk of the same colour. It's so frustrating but worth putting in the time to correct mistakes.
ReplyDeleteI usually try to salvage the floss when unpicking especially when it is a kit like Santa is. I am not sure I can match the floss even though the DMC equivalents are given.
DeleteYour cross stitch work is just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI hate when I stitch something the wrong way and then I throw the project away. I´m very impressed that you unstitch and restitch it all!
ReplyDeleteI would never throw a project away. This is a Christmas stocking that I am making for my son-in-law. I love the way it looks. I just have to pay more attention to the details.
DeleteI hate frogging but sometimes, in the long run, it's the quickest thing to do.
ReplyDeleteI hate frogging also and until the last two years I rarely had to do much, but lately I either am not concentrating well enough or I am distracted. It is fixed now, so I am much happier.
DeleteUnstitching is not pleasant but necessary sometimes!!! I’m impressed with all of the projects you are working on these days! Take care
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing how a single missed stitch can throw the entire thing off! But it's so pretty ... it really is a lovely, lovely piece. It will stunning when it's finished! :)
ReplyDeleteLove your Santa! Sorry that you had to unstitch, but glad you did. The finish will be amazing.
ReplyDeleteSorry you had to frog, but you made great progress including the restitching :) Looking forward to seeing your stitchy gifts!
ReplyDeletesuper secret projects are simply the best! lovely work!
