My cross-stitching is quite slow lately. I finished the holly leaves, but the bird is taking me quite some time to stitch.
I am still loving my magnifier, but I just don't have the desire to stitch a whole bunch. I think I have too many projects in the works right now. I need to finish something.
I am more than halfway done with my variegated donation scarf.
It tends to be what I am most often picking up. I do 4 or 8 rows, then put it down to do something else.
I also sometimes crochet 4 rows of the lavender scarf too. This is the right side, but I really prefer the wrong side.
I was messing around in my yarn stash and came upon this skein of Lion Brand Homespun yarn that I think I picked up at clearance one time. Oh what the heck, why not start another crocheted donation scarf with it.
I now remember how much I really don't like to crochet with this yarn. It is all double crochet back and forth and growing fast thankfully.
It is HOT here on Long Island as it is for much of the eastern part of the US right now. I am extremely thankful for central air-conditioning. I hope everyone is staying cool.
I am joining Kathy for some Slow Sunday Stitching. Pop on over to her site to see what other bloggers are stitching. I hope to finish stitching my bird today.
Thanks for stopping by!
Sometimes we just need a break from stitching! I have lost my mojo several times. But I do agree sometimes it helps to have a finish and they are far and in between when we have a lot of projects started.
ReplyDeleteI start too many and hop back and forth and that normally keeps me from loosing my mojo but every now and then I don't feel like working on anything and read instead - I sometimes blame the heat!
ReplyDeleteI am planning to learn crochet with 10 cotton thread for lacemaking on a quilt I am fashioning with my best friend... I may contact you if I need a different perspective of teaching if you don't mind.. your crochet all looks sooo lovely! I like your cross stitch too. I love coming to your blog and seeing that bridge piece you worked so hard on now framed and looking elegant... I can't cross stitch anymore due to dexterity issues... so I am hoping I can keep consistent tension with crocheting a bit around the blocks I am working on in the background between projects otherwise... I will write about them next week if I remember :D Have a wonderful week Cathie! Stay cool !!! Kathi
ReplyDeleteYou've inspired me to purchase a magnifier which is on its way. 😊 Sometimes subconsciously our eyes need a rest and perhaps that is why you are not in the mood for fine needlework vs a quick crochet project.
ReplyDeleteI don't like to knit with homespun, I remember making many accessories with that yarn and it hurt my hands!! The slow stitching of the bird is worth it :)
ReplyDeleteSempre bello ricamare il Natale !!
ReplyDeleteThe progress may be slow on the stitching but it is stunning, what a beautiful project. Great yarn projects too.
ReplyDeleteI have so much yarn and although I am working on about 4 projects, the volume of the stash never seems to dwindle. Like doing fine cross stitch, knitting with fingering weight yarn goes sloowwly. That is part of the problem - I knit like I am running in place and not getting anywhere. But the finished product is worth the effort.
ReplyDeleteThose are all lovely slow stitching projects. It's nice to have several different ones to choose.
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely projects you are working on .
ReplyDeleteKeep cool.
