Frogging Yarn Along

So here I am knitting away on the right front of my sweater when I realize that about 15 rows back there appears to be a hole. My knitting is correct but there is a loose spot and it is bothering me. It was on the front, so I knew I had to frog all those rows. I still have a decent amount of the right side done as you can see below.

I will continue it soon, but first I need to put it aside awhile and go back to my secret crocheting. I am using the yarns below that I shared last week. The denim color yarn works up a little larger than I want so after crocheting about ten rows, it too was frogged. I switched to a smaller hook and although it is still wider than I would like I can't go to any smaller hook as the yarn is too thick for it. I will make do and I think it will work out.

I was really excited to work with the brighter colored yarn. I was told it would stripe up nicely and I loved the colors.....or so I thought. Well, the yarn doesn't stripe, it chunks. Also, there is a muddy golden color mixed in with the bright colors that just doesn't work well.

You can guess that this piece will most probably also be frogged eventually. I will try to use this yarn for something else. Thankfully, I can make the denim color yarn work for the gift I am planning.

What are you knitting/crocheting? What are you reading?
Normally I would be joining Ginny's Yarn Along, but her baby boy, Sebastian was born yesterday. Pop on over to her site to see her beautiful new addition.

I have finished reading The Knitting Circle by Ann Hood. I enjoyed it very much but you have to be in the mood for a mostly somber read. Next up is The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton. This is my first book by this author and so far I am finding her writing style quite engaging and the story very interesting.

Look what bloomed in my garden this week!

I don't remember planting this lily and November is a really odd time of year for this flower to be showing itself here on Long Island. A bright spot in my day after all the frogging this week.

Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I'm sorry your week has involved a bit of frogging Cathie - and I certainly identify with your feelings as only last week I had to do the same with my cardigan! It's better to do it and begin again cause if you're anything like me you'll never be happy with the project otherwise. I'm sorry also that your beautiful colours haven't quite worked out as expected, but it is lovely to have the gift of that beautiful lily to cheer you isn't it. I hope the end of the week is wonderful for you! Hugs, Joy x

    1. I put aside the colorful yarn and continued with the denim color. Halfway done with that gift now.
