Let's start with the sewing. I have assembled all 6 of the "rows" for Windows into my World.
Next is connecting the rows together. The directions say to stitch an inch on either side of all of the intersections of one seam and then go back and stitch in between. This may take some time, but I am really enjoying working on this.
I have been crocheting a little cat for my new granddaughter. I don't like it. It looks more like a mouse's head on a tiny body.
I haven't yet attached the head and tail to the body. I will finish it, but I think I will make something else to give to her. I recently made a little lamb that was cute. I think that is what I will be making.
I made some Hot Cross Buns yesterday.
It was a new recipe that didn't seem to come together as I expected. Then again, I had never made them previously. Hubby asked for some without raisins. The buns are tasty, but a little dense. Making yeast doughs are not my forte. That is for sure.
Since the Woodland Babies birth announcement is finished, I have decided to start on the Christmas ornament for my new granddaughter. It is this Mill Hill Charming Santa.
I have made two of these already. One for her brother and one for my other granddaughter. My son and his wife haven't decided on a Christmas stocking yet so I figured I should start on this instead.
The only update on the Royal Squares quilt is that I have decided to remove the yellow border and just finish the quilt as it was originally meant to be. Even adding borders will not make this quilt into what I wanted now. I have been avoiding working on it as I realised I was just not happy with the yellow border...or any border for that matter. Looking back, I only started to make this quilt to use the jelly roll that I had purchased. It was not meant to be a bed quilt and it won't be. I will finish it and save it to either use, gift or donate.
I have some hyacinth in bloom as well as some tulips.
I will be joining Kathy for some Slow Sunday Stitching and Frederique at the Quilting Patch. Make yourself some tea or coffee and pop on over to their sites to see what other bloggers are stitching.
Thanks for stopping by!
Spring flowers just make me smile! Your grandchildren will keep you in stitches for a long time! Three of everything! The head of the cat does look like a mouse---perhaps you can rework it into a mouse toy... I remember your last lamb--really cute. Happy stitching. Gail at the cozy quilter.
ReplyDeleteYour Windows Into My World quilt is very intriguing!!! Interesting to read about your hot crossed buns adventure. I, too, baked something similar this week but it was a large loaf. Mine turned out all dense in the center! My DH sliced it into thin slices and baked them for a bit longer. He will eat anything! But I won't be making that recipe again...
ReplyDeleteYour Windows have really come along. How clever to crochet a cat; I only tackle afghans. That Charmed Santa is gorgeous and will be a wonderful family keepsake for the little one, Cathie. I'm also impressed you tackled Hot Cross Buns...good for you!
ReplyDeleteWow, Windows looks fabulous! It's fun to stitch the last rows. Yummy buns, and pretty flowers. Enjoy the new embroidery! Thank you for sharing, and linking up.
ReplyDeletewow that pattern 3-D looks intense hope you find it ok for the next step.
ReplyDeleteI love that quilt so much! Your garden looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteYour hot cross buns looked delicious. I continue to enjoy watching your progress on my World. I'm glad that you have decided what you want to do to move your Royal squares project forward. Getting it to a usable state is always better than having it languish unfinished in a pile of abandonment! --TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteThat was my thought exactly with Royal Squares. Windows is getting a little challenging, but I will persevere.
DeleteI also made hot cross buns and LOVE the texture, we could compare recipes Also this post would fit my link party "I Like " thursday so I'd love to link to your blog if you want
ReplyDeleteLeeAnna at not afraid of color
Your Windows quilt blocks have such an amazing 3-D look - that just fascinates me, Cathie! That's too bad about the crocheted kitty, though. The Santa looks fun to work on instead. Pretty flowers in your garden. Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteI would love to join your link party and compare recipes.
ReplyDeleteI am waiting a bit before I start a birth sampler for the new grand baby to be (boy or girl??). Lovely projects.
