Little Bits

I have only stitched a little bit since my Midweek Post, mainly because Hubby and I made a two day trip to Saratoga, NY. As I have stated before, Hubby is a big horse-racing fan. I thought I would get some stitching done in the car, but I got engrossed in Nora Roberts' Key of Knowledge and couldn't put it down.
Besides that I found the road to be too bumpy for accurate stitching. While we were in Saratoga, I did find the Gloversville Sewing Center nearby. This is a small quilt shop, but I did manage to find some items to purchase.
The beige fabric is for a future quilt. I just fell in love with the swirls on it. The Journey Bag pattern looks easy...I hope so. The fat quarters are to complement my Summer of Love piece in a tote.

I am almost done with my Summer of Love Challenge. I just need to fill in the yin yang symbol and add a few French knots. Maybe a flower between Peace and Love and near the heart.
I hope to finish it today.

Baker Beach is giving me fits. Something about the way I am currently stitching is making my right shoulder ache. I had worked on it for about an hour last Wednesday and it was aching slightly all day Thursday at Saratoga. I woke up in the hotel Friday morning with my shoulder absolutely screaming. Thankfully, an dose of Aleve calmed it down enough to be bearable and as the day wore on it felt much better. Yesterday, I sat down with Baker Beach again for only a little while and this morning that shoulder is twinging. I really want to finish this soon. This is where it is as of Saturday.
I am still working on that orange color. There is a whole lot of it.

I am joining Kathy for some Slow Sunday Stitching. Summer of Love is on the top of my to-do list today. Tomorrow I will join the Stitchery Link Party at Super Mom - No Cape. Pop on over to these sites to see what other bloggers are stitching.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Baker Beach is looking great! Thankfully, we are slow stitching...taking time and enjoying the process. So, go ahead, stitch in shorter spurts of time so that you're shoulder doesn't aches so much!

  3. Time! Stitching is not supposed to hurt! Hopefully, just a change in position will relieve the shoulder pain. Baker beach is coming along! You have been busy with Summer of Love too.

  4. I'm amazed that you could even stitch in the car! I love Saratoga, going up later this month. My Mom had a summer house on Lake Sacandaga and I spent a lot of time in Saratoga and at the track. Have you eaten at The Old Bryan Inn? That's one of our favorite places and when racing is not going on we like The Parting Glass Pub. The flavor of Saratoga has changed, it's more corporate America than years ago. I still love the town.
I'm glad you mentioned the quilt shop, I'll check it out when I go up.

I hope your shoulder feels better, I have to stitch in short time periods and it is frustrating when your body doesn't cooperate.

  6. Saratoga is about 3 hours away from me. There aren't many LNS' around, and I'm glad you found a few things at the quilt shop. Battenkill Stitchery is the closest I think, and it's still over an hour away.

I hope you can figure out your shoulder issue, I have those occasionally as well. Baker Beach looks great and I can see why you'd like to keep going!

  7. Very pretty fabrics, they fit right in with the theme of your hand piece. Hope you got in lots of stitching time this week.

  8. Baker Beach is so beautiful! I'm sorry you're having shoulder pain towards the end of this great project. I found that a pure magnesium spray from Natural Grocers really helps my aches and pains. Just remember - spray it on several hours AFTER you bathe! Otherwise it burns. It is, however, very effective! Thank you for sharing and I hope you feel better soon!

  9. Baker Beach is looking wonderful hope you can still keep going , just try and rest for a week first.
We have a racing track in our town and you can see parts from my kitchen window because we live high up.
It is great when they left off fire works I can see them all.
    Have a great week.

  10. Loving the Summer of Love project the colors are so bright and cheery. I'm familiar with the dreaded stitcher's shoulder I think it happens when we hold the needle too tightly and concentrate so strongly we tense our muscles to the point of physical discomfort. Baker Beach is looking great.

  11. What a shame that Baker Beach is causing you problems when you are getting to the end. I hope a bit of rest sorts you out.

  12. I hope your shoulder ache is just temporary! I get worried whenever I feel an ache or pain when I knit. I dread an RA flare but even overuse isn't a good thing. The peace embroidery is looking ever so lovely!

  13. How great your embroidery is looking! I like the fabrics you bought, and books often keep me from other activities. =)

  14. Please, take it easy on your shoulder. Being so close to finishing Baker's Beach it must be tempting to just push through and finish but I know from experience that can lead to several weeks of not being able to stitch at all.

Your Summer of Love looks awesome! It's fun to see how the same theme can look so different from one stitcher's vision to another. :)

Thanks so much for linking up to last week's Stitchery Link Party and for the link back. Aloha hugs!
