Slow Sunday Stitching

I know that I won't be doing any stitching today until after my daughter leaves to return to Boston this afternoon, but that is just fine with me. I have had a few opportunities to work on some crafts this week.

Baker Beach got some more blue stitches added.
The water is really filling in now.
I also worked on the 2015 Prairie Schooler Santa. Not a lot, but enough to see some progress.
I picked up my Granny Square Roses again also. I have now completed all the squares of all the roses that had leaves.
My dilemma is that I have this basket of roses that don't have leaves, but I ran out of the sage green yarn that I was using on the darker colored roses. I have no idea when or where I bought that yarn or what make or colorway it is. When I started this project a few years ago, I was trying to use up wayward yarn.
I don't like the way the the darker roses look with the dark green leaves. Unfortunately I only have a kelly green left in my stash and it is way too bright.
I think that I need to go to ACMoore or Michaels and try to find either a yarn very similar to the sage green or a totally different green that I can use on all of the rest of these roses. I don't want only a few to have the new green. That might be my shopping plan for tomorrow afternoon.

I am joining Kathy for some Slow Sunday Stitching. On Monday, I will join the Stitchery Link Party at Super Mom - No Cape. Pop on over to these sites to see what other bloggers are stitching. As for me, I will enjoy the morning and early afternoon with my daughter and then maybe sit down with Baker Beach for a little while late this afternoon.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Baker Beach is looking good, the water is very effective. I love the roses too, sounds a good excuse to buy more yarn :-)

  2. The Baker Beach is coming along nicely, reminds me of the Tappan Zee Bridge going over the Hudson. Have a great week! Mary@stitchingfriendsforever2

  3. All those colours really give your picture depth, even though it is a pain to constantly be changing colours. Have a great visit with your daughter. I'm going to do some cross stitch today too.

  7. I love those granny square roses, and I have looked for a similar pattern without success. Where did you get your pattern, Cathie?

I can imagine that Kelly green would be too strong, but I think a lighter spring green could work with the sage, and may be easier to find.

Baker Beach is really moving along!

  8. I really like the roses. I agree - I think the dark roses need a sage green leaf.

Baker Beach looks terrific with the water filling in.

  9. Baker Beach is wonderful Cathie! It is really taking shape with the blue fill in. Love your PS Santa...they are fun to stitch. I just got one done myself. And I love the roses...good luck with finding the right green. RJ @stitchingfriendsforever2

  10. Those roses are beautiful! Hope you can find a green that works with the old and the new. That should definitely become a finished project.

  11. It's always good when we can see progress, even a little and there's definite progress on both pieces.
