Slow stitching

I have been out of touch because Mom's recovery is having a whole lot of ups and downs. Let's just say that pain medication can really do a number on the elderly. I have been spending a whole lot of time at my mom's house including sleeping there some nights. She has now internet so I am really out of touch.

All of my stitching is slow lately, but at least I am making progress. I finally finished Santa this past week. The "e" in Merry was not right and had to be frogged because it messed up all the other letters...which also needed frogging. It is correct now as are the rest.
Now that Santa is done I thought I would concentrate on Baker Beach some more. This is where I left off two weeks ago.

I managed a few more stitches one day this week. I filled in all of the confetti.
I am always happy when I can see progress.

I have started working on another Prairie Schooler Santa, because it is easy to bring to Mom's.
Spring weather has finally arrived. Hubby and I sat on our front porch with a cocktail a few nights ago. It was so.....relaxing. I hope we can do this more often now. I like having a morning tea or coffee out there too. Right now though I have to clean the little table each time because of the amount of pollen that accumulates.
My tulips have bloomed. I think these were from a past Easter gift.
This year's Easter tulips will have to be planted soon too. They are currently sitting on my porch.

I am joining Kathy for some Slow Sunday Stitching today. Tomorrow I will join the Stitchery Link Party at Super Mom - No Cape.  Pop on over to these sites to see what other bloggers are stitching.

End of Spring Vacation

Today is the last day of my Spring vacation, tomorrow is back to work. I didn't manage to get as much crafting done as I hoped. It turns out that when Mom fell three weeks ago she actually fractured 5 ribs. So I have spent much of this week off helping her. I was able to work on my Prairie Schooler Santa when I was at her house, but Baker Beach had to wait until I was home.
This is how Baker Beach looked in my last update.
I have partially filled in some of those white spaces. This is a lot of confetti stitching so it is taking some time.
It is not a lot, but at least I can see the progress.
The rest of my daffodils have bloomed.
Bunny paid a visit again also.
I think he/she is wishing everyone Happy Easter!

On Monday I will be joining the Stitchery Link Party at Super Mom - No Cape. Pop on over to this site to see what other bloggers are stitching.

Santa is stitched

I have been working hard in my quest to finish this Prairie Schooler Santa. I need to have one less WIP. This 2014 Santa is almost finished. All that is left is the back-stitching. Yay!
I will finish him as an ornament after I finish one other Prairie Schooler Santa. Then there will be one for each my children next Christmas.

Spring has finally sprung in my back yard!
My daffodils are in full bloom!
I'm not sure where the one with the orange center came from, but it fits right in. I am so glad that the daffodils seem to love my garden. I have split them in the fall and now have them blooming all over the place. They make me smile each day.

Spring Vacation

My Spring/Easter/Passover vacation from school started on Friday afternoon. Hubby and I have no plans other than to relax and hopefully enjoy some nice Spring weather. Hubby has to teach his university classes as they are not on break. I will help mom with a couple of doctor's appointments.

I hope to get some walking in. I know I will find time to craft. I have spent some time this week working on my Prairie Schooler Santa. He has his scarf and face now. I had to frog his pant legs. When I went to add his boots they were all wrong. I don't know where my mind was when I stitched them.

Baker Beach has a few more stitches. I hope to get a whole lot of stitching done on this during my vacation week.
Bunny is back in our yard. We see him/her every morning and evening.

Sorry for the lighting of the picture. I am not sure what happened there.

I am joining Kathy for some Slow Sunday Stitching. I think I will spend some time quilting and cross-stitching today. Tomorrow I will join the Stitchery Link Party at Super Mom - No Cape. Pop on over to these sites to see what other bloggers are stitching.

Moving on...

As I posted last week, we lost the patriarch of my husband's family. We had a week of sorrow and celebration of a life well-lived. Now we must all move on. My children have returned to their respective homes and lives. Hubby and I have gone back to work. My MIL is learning how to live alone for the first time in her 83 years. Life must move on....we must live our own lives to the fullest from now on. Sure there will be sorrow and adjustments. Holidays and celebrations are forever changed, but that happens when marriages/divorces and births occur too. I am a practical person. I accept what life has thrown my way. I try to gracious about it most of the time. I usually don't rant and rave and only rarely do the "woe is me" thing. I learned at a young age that life goes on. My own father died when I was just 3 years old.

So enough with the maudlin post. Life moves on and my life is not complete without my family and my crafting. My family has mostly returned to their normal routines, now my crafting must. My mom also fell this past week, so I had some time while helping her at her house to work on my Prairie Schooler Santa this week. He has his green trim, his beard and part of his face.

I also spent some stitching Baker Beach. The rest of the black of the rocks is stitched. Now I have to fill them in with browns and oranges.
