It has been bitterly cold here since last weekend’s snowstorm. We had about 12 inches of snow.
Thankfully we didn’t get the massive amount of ice the other places experienced.
We are expected to stay below freezing for the next 10 days or so and have been so since last weekend. I’m staying warm and cozy in my house except for grocery shopping. Of course that means I have tons of time to craft and I have been busy.
The ball shape on Having a Ball has been quilted!
On Tuesday I marked the cross-hatching for the background.
I started the quilting on Wednesday. I think this will go fairly quickly.
During the snowstorm on Sunday, I hunkered down in my basement and finished sewing the I-Spy quilt together. I love it!
Now I am cutting colorful squares to make a border around the edges.
There will be 4 more 9 patches in the corners and a white square next to each of the other 9 patches. The quilt should end up about 45” square.
The heel and gusset have been completed on my sock and I am now knitting the foot.
I’m enjoying this. I hope the resulting sock fits nicely.
I’m currently reading Daughters of Victory by Gabriella Saab. I haven’t decided whether or not I’m enjoying it. So far it is quite dark.
I will be joining Frederique at the Quilting Patch on Saturday and Kathy for some Slow Sunday Stitching. I hope you take some time to relax with some tea, coffee or hot chocolate and pop on over to their sites to see what other bloggers are stitching.
Thanks for stopping by!
PS: the commenting problem is mine as I have a new computer. My ability to comment on my own posts is blocked. I need to confer with hubby as to whether the permissioning solution is safe. I will try to use my old computer to comment, but it can be slow and balky lately. Hence the new computer.
Having a ball looks great! Nice to see the whole thing as you have only been showing the parts you have been quilting each week. The cross hatching in the background is perfect!
ReplyDeleteLove the I Spy quilt setting. So many possibilities for I Spy quilts. Your granddaughter will love finding everything!
Your sock knitting is coming along. I have not tackled socks or mittens yet but have yarn and patterns for both. I like the yarn you are using.
Take care! Gail at the cozy quilter
Your "Having a Ball" is just amazing, CathieJ:)))) Cross hatching is just perfect for it I think, too.
ReplyDeleteThe "I Spy" came together so well..and the colorful squares will make a lovely border on it...
We got around 12" too with 2" more of frozen stuff!! Now it is just plain C O L D --1 degree this morning...the sun isn't warming us up in any meaningful way either...though it is nice to see...
Have a great weekend and stay warm hugs, Julierose
What great progress on your Having a Ball project and I love your I Spy quilt too. Those little black and white squares really set off the blocks. I wish I could knit socks; I don't know how to cast on the four needles. Yours are coming along nicely. Happy Stitching!
ReplyDeletegood luck with the computer issue - getting a new computer sometimes takes a bit of getting used to. You got a lot of snow. A lot of ours melted now we are below 30 again for a couple days before we hit 50 and melt some more. I love the quilt you are quilting.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Cathie: Congratulations on the stitching on the Having A Ball quilt, I am so enthralled by its beauty, the I Spy quilt is also amazing.
ReplyDeleteI need to learn to knit, I see so many people stitching socks now.
Have a great week.
Catherine
Bravo for completing the ball of Having a Ball! I love it and the background cross-hatching is going to make it pop. I love your I-spy quilt and want to make one too! Thank you for sharing and linking up, take care and stay warm.
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely keeping yourself busy... I love the little I Spy quilt and my favorite thing to knit it socks... yours are looking good!
ReplyDeleteLove your two quilts! I really like a hand knitted sock especially with yarn that knits in stripes! Keep warm. Sarah quilting by the sea
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. Once these socks are finished, I am hoping to find a really interesting sock yarn to work with at my local shop.
DeleteCathie, I love your I-Spy and Having a Ball, too. The cross hatching is going to cause the ball to pop even more. This is such an eye pleasing quilt. Goodness me, it looks freezing there. My brain cannot compute those frigid temperatures. One would get heaps of stitching done when day after day the world outside freezes over. Keep warm!
ReplyDeleteHaving a Ball looks amazing! And great progress on your I Spy quilt, too - it's really cute. That's a long time to stay below freezing, and with all that snow on the ground. Stay warm and safe!
ReplyDeleteLove that Having a Ball quilt. The quilting is beautiful too. Super cute I Spy quilt!
ReplyDeleteYour Having a Ball is certainly 3D-ish. And your Eye Spy quilt is quite striking with the little 9 patch corner stones.
ReplyDeleteLots of snow... is your area forecasted for more snow this week? Your eye spy quilt is really cute. I'm looking forward to seeing it with the border.
ReplyDeleteLovely post Clare , love your work .
ReplyDeleteI am also having PC probs .
Have a lovely week hugs June.
