Baby items

Hubby and I visited our son and DIL this past week. I brought along the finished Sweet Heart baby blanket. I had finished and blocked it the week before we traveled. I wanted to be sure the blanket was ready and waiting when their son is born. Isn't this an adorable blanket?!

Here is a photo of our son and DIL with the blanket.

I also dug into my boxes of saved baby items and found the hand made items that were given to me for my son when he was born. I am brought them with me also so that his son can use them.

This first sweater set was actually mine when I was a baby. It is neutral so my grandson will hopefully be able to use it. I don't worry about which side the buttons are on.

My mother also made a sleep sack for my son. He usually wore it when in the pram. I thought I took a photo of it before giving it to my son and DIL, but I can't find it.

This second sweater and bonnet set was knit by my mother for my son. The yarn is light weight and speckled with blue. It is hard to see in the photo. It is a small size that should be good for cool June days.

This set was crocheted by one of my neighbors and given to us when our son was born. It is a heavy weight and somewhat larger. It may fit our grandson in the Fall.

I also brought some baby clothes that I had saved that my future grandson might be able to wear. My son was born in January and my grandson is due in June so the seasons might be off size wise.

I gifted the green baby blanket yesterday at the baby shower of my daughter's childhood friend. I finished it just before we took our trip to California.

So I have two new finishes for this year. Yay!

I am joining Kathy for some Slow Sunday Stitching. Pop on over to her site to see what other bloggers are up to. I will continue working on the birth announcement, the stocking for my DIL and the quilt for my daughter and SIL. I have also started to embroider the first of two bibs.

Thanks for stopping by!

  4. The blankets are both beautiful. It is so special to have the saved items to pass down for the grandbaby. With the cold temps we’ve seen this year, we may all be wearing sweaters through the summer.

  13. I love that baby blanket you made, very nice indeed. And it's so nice that you have kept the baby knitting to pass on to him for his new little one. You have had these items safely tucked away for quite some time.
