I have just worked out that I will need about 224 squares for my afghan and I've done about 80 so far. Like you I weave my ends in before I attach them together and I am using the join as you go method, so I have completed 3 rounds of each square and then the fourth round will be my joining together round if that makes sense. Thank you so much for visiting my blog. This leaves a defined ridge which you may or may not want. When I join in the perpendicular direction, I need to make a chain stitch over the original crochet chain to get to the next square. I am making this for a wheelchair-bound young lady so my 11 x 14 squares will be close to measuring 3'x4' which is recommended. Look on the internet for joining ideas. There are several. You can also go to various crochet pattern sites and look up patterns with granny squares (there are many) and see how they are joined. Please forgive all the questions! But I'm in the middle of making tons of 4" granny squares to be made into an afghan for my daughter and the thought of joining them is giving me the hives since I'm not sure how to do it! Never mind trying to figure out how many to make for a decent sized blanket!!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02652841165702271275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7466381655230766766.post-76168678737078217322013-08-15T13:51:37.943-04:002013-08-15T13:51:37.943-04:00really lovely! appreciated hearing how you weave i...really lovely! appreciated hearing how you weave in the ends before joining it together! :)elizabethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00962587884124992942noreply@blogger.com
