Moving on...

As I posted last week, we lost the patriarch of my husband's family. We had a week of sorrow and celebration of a life well-lived. Now we must all move on. My children have returned to their respective homes and lives. Hubby and I have gone back to work. My MIL is learning how to live alone for the first time in her 83 years. Life must move on....we must live our own lives to the fullest from now on. Sure there will be sorrow and adjustments. Holidays and celebrations are forever changed, but that happens when marriages/divorces and births occur too. I am a practical person. I accept what life has thrown my way. I try to gracious about it most of the time. I usually don't rant and rave and only rarely do the "woe is me" thing. I learned at a young age that life goes on. My own father died when I was just 3 years old.

So enough with the maudlin post. Life moves on and my life is not complete without my family and my crafting. My family has mostly returned to their normal routines, now my crafting must. My mom also fell this past week, so I had some time while helping her at her house to work on my Prairie Schooler Santa this week. He has his green trim, his beard and part of his face.

I also spent some stitching Baker Beach. The rest of the black of the rocks is stitched. Now I have to fill them in with browns and oranges.

I am joining Kathy for some Slow Sunday Stitching. On Monday, I will join the Stitchery Link Party.  Pop on over to these sites to see what other bloggers are stitching.

Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I am at the same stage of life as you. Elderly parents and children in their 20's... we are spending this whole weekend helping our parents. Not a lot of time for stitching. We are also both working on Christmas projects! I love seeing your cross stitch projects each week

  16. So sad to read about your FIL, Cathie. It must be very hard for your MIL--I know my own mom suffered greatly when my dad died at age 87 two years ago. But, she has picked herself up and moved on and is looking forward to her 90th birthday in May...

Lovely stitching and great progress on Baker Beach!

  18. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. My philosophy is very much like yours... life must move on. And I always find I can process those things in my life more easily when I have some kind of craft project to turn to.

Your Santa is coming along as is Baker's Beach.

    Sending you warm thoughts.

And thank you for linking up to last week's Stitchery Link Party and for the link back. Aloha hugs!
