Revisiting My Knitting

I have been away from my Yarn Along visits lately mainly because I have been neither knitting nor reading all that much.
I recently sat down one morning with Mom's new vest and made tremendous progress...at least for me.
This vest is knitted on circular needles from the bottom up and then split for the armholes. You purl 2 stitches on each side for "pretend" seams. Once you get to the armholes you split it into three sections, but keep them all on the same needle as you knit each section separately. All of you veteran knitters will understand this I hope. It certainly confused me a little when I first looked at the pattern. I am currently knitting the left front section after splitting. It took a whole lot of courage for me to complete the bind-off/split row, but it turned out to be quite easy. Once it was done, I finally understood the rest of the directions. Whew!
As for reading, it is lagging.
The James Herriot book Cat Stories is my bedside reading as it is a book of quite enjoyable short stories. This is a book I have had for many years that I decided would be perfect to re-read at bedtime as most of the stories are just plain old cute.
Nora Robert's Savor the Moment is traveling with me for when I sometimes have an hour after work before I tutor. I stop at a Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks for a coffee and spend a little time reading. The coffee gives me the energy to keep going a little while longer, while the book allows me to shed the vagaries of the day.
I'm linking up with Ginny for Yarn Along today. What are you knitting/crocheting? What are you reading? Pop on over to her site to see what other bloggers are up to.

Thanks for stopping by!

I too have been absent for awhile from the yarn along, I have been crocheting but hardly any reading at all.

Glad you've made some progress on your knitting and are finding time to sip and read! I try to sneak in moments while my kids are at their piano and violin lessons...Starbucks and a good book sounds perfect!

That color is so lovely!
I haven't done any knitting in a while. For some reason I'm doing a lot of crochet projects lately. Seems to go in cycles.
You're inspiring me to improve my reading habits.

I've only really been knitting for just over a year. Prior to that all of my yarn work was crochet. I find that I need to concentrate less on crochet, but I am not always pleased with crocheted clothing. Thanks for visiting.

I find knitting always takes a back seat in the summer. Usually too heavy. I'm back too. I've just started crocheting and find it perfect to pick up in those in between moments.
